We all know that wonderful feeling of sleeping under freshly laundered sheets. A clean and comfortable bed is enough to make everyone happy. Oddly enough, many people have never cleaned their mattress. If you only knew what’s out there, you’d probably think again. Because having clean sheets doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping in a clean bed. In fact, it is recommended that you clean your mattress twice a year to ensure that the bed you sleep in is really clean.
How dirty can a mattress get?
Have you ever thought about how many skin cells people lose per hour? Well, millions an hour! These skin cells normally stay on the surface of your sheets, but some of them will merge into the fibers and mix with your sweat. This causes them to end up in your mattress. In other words, your mattress needs serious attention and it’s important to clean it.
For people with an allergy to house dust mites, the above is of course terrible news. For those people it is important to clean the mattress regularly. Especially since dust mites are known to love skin cells! Do you often wake up in the morning with a stuffy, runny or itchy nose and do your eyes hurt when you wake up? Chances are these little monsters have ended up in your bed.
Mattresses double in weight every 10 years
You may never have thought about it, but it is a fact that a mattress doubles in weight every 10 years. Your mattress may have already doubled in weight. First, there is the accumulation of human hair, skin cells, mold, bacteria, dust and dust mites. And then there is the excrement of these dust mites and dead insects. Sounds pretty daunting, right? Do not worry. Cleaning your mattress is not difficult at all and you can do it yourself very easily. Check out the next page, where we’ll explain the steps.
